Hat Yai – Ao Nang

25th March 2014      314km      38.5’C

Tuesday night was the opportunity to catch up with some friends in Hat Yai. And after a reasonably large evening out in Hat Yai with Kev Le Rat, Eddie & Mai (who knew all the good restaurants and bars)    The evening ended around 3am, which meant no early ride, so it was 11am before I got rolling to Ao Nang.   It was stinking hot all day, 38’C and the usual crazy Thai traffic on the highway.  Cars coming around blind corners on the wrong side of the road, pigs walking in the middle of the road, etc.

So now I’m in Ao Nang for two nights.  Stayed last night at a very budget place,  close to the beach, but moved today to the Phu Pha Ao Nang Resort as it was cheaper and has a pool.  It’s far from the main street, but quiet and consists of wooden huts in amongst the jungle.  It’s very chilled.

  1. Singha beer with a straw… wonder if that’s the Thai equivalent of Singapore’s Tiger beer with ice.

Also, I love it that your motorcycle mounted and battery powered GPS tracker pinpoints your exact location with past route/ check-in points… BUT we can’t find a $50m plane.

      • On the “route” page Nicholas. Scroll down to the bottom where you will see a real-time map. 🙂

    • That plane didn’t want to be found. And the people ‘looking’ for it don’t want it found. Not when a device worth a few hundred bucks can do the same thing.
