Ao Nang – Ko Kao Khao
27th March 2014 240km 38.5C
This morning I met up with Goran from Phuket and we rode together to Ko Kao Khao. Goran knew a great little place for lunch by the river and we had a good feed there, although as we pulled into park, his rear tyre let go with a flat. We decided to call in some help while we had lunch, and in a short while a mechanic showed up on a scooter with two new scooter tyres. (which were never going to fit) so Goran and I set about patching the tyre with a plug. The plug went in ok and we reinflated the tyre, but about 30 minutes later we discovered it still had a slow leak, so we dropped into a tyre repair workshop where the guy just shook his head at how bald the tyre was. Anyway, after some discussion he managed to lay another patch on the inside and we were on our way again.
Goran dropped me off at the ferry and I took the short ride across to Ko Kao Khao. Once on the island it was a quick 5 minute ride with a section of off-road sand to challenge me, and arrive at Hapla Beach Cottage. An absolute paradise on the Andaman Sea. Hapla is run by husband and wife, Nong & Sai. The most genuine, warm and friendly people.
After a dip in the ocean to wash the road grime and sweat away, I sat down to enjoy a couple of beers and a garlic & pepper fish dinner, before heading to an early bed.
Cool – dinner sounds tasty 🙂
