Lotus Children’s Centre – Day 2
I spent most of the day today in the kitchen, chopping cabbages, garlic, carrots, capsicum and a big piece of beef that I didn’t recognise. The volume of food that eighty small, but strong, children can eat is phenomenal.
When it came to serving up time, I had the wool pulled over my eyes a number of times, with kids telling me to load up their plate, or to put extra plates of food on the table for ‘invisible’ friends yet to appear. It was a little like “Oliver” More!!
After lunch I spent a couple of hours cutting timber for repairing the kids outdoor shelter.
I’d received an email from the Kazakhstan embassy, confirming that the visa was ready to be picked up, so headed to the embassy at 4pm. When I got there, they rolled out the “system is down” story, and now the visa couldn’t be collected. I think this is code for “the guy who needs to sign the visa has left early again”
So I was told they would email me again when the visa was ready, yet again, or maybe just more ready than last time.
Fingers crossed…
