Koh Chang

5th April 2014     1km

Another ‘rest’ day, a non riding day, spent diving just off Koh Chang.

It wasn’t bad, although visibility wasn’t great.  Dived on a US ship that was deliberately sunk a few years ago.  Now enjoying a cold beer and planning the next phase.  Cambodia beckons.  I’m only 120km from the border.   I’ve started taking a malaria prophylaxis, something I’ll now need to do every day for the next 50 days, until leaving the malaria risk areas of south east Asia and southern China.

The plan for tomorrow is to ride within a few km of the Cambodian border, and then cross into Cambodia, the 4th country of the journey, early on Monday morning.

  1. That visibility is not too bad – maybe you have been spoilt in the past 🙂

  2. Watch out for the effects of the Malaria pills. They made my body go bonkers. I had splitting headaches, felt groggy all day and lost my appetite.

    • Thanks! Yes, I’m guessing you took doxycycline? I’m using Malarone, as I had used it before and knew it works ok for me. Except on the wallet… It’s a bit expensive.
