Artibach – Biysk

Artibach – Biysk

Heading out from Artibach, I made a last minute decision to take a back road, over the mountains to Biysk. The ride was great for the first hour, weaving along next to the river, before it degenerated into a road made from river stones. The road was wide, but deep, round, river pebbles had been laid down as the surface, and it was hard work for 110km before a normal country road reappeared, where I stopped to re-inflate the tyres before cruising on towards Biysk.

By the time I reached Biysk, the temperature was topping 34’C. It is hard to believe just three days ago I was chilled in 11’C. That’s Siberian weather.

I parked up at the Hotel Tsentralnaya, got an overpriced but clean room, and walked around town for a few hours. There is nothing to see in Biysk, nothing, but at least the people are friendly.
